Discover the original Hojicha Powder crafted in Kyushu Island, Japan. Roasted as per Japanese tradition at 200 degree for optimal flavour and freshness, this authentic Hojicha Powder has a rich aroma, toasty flavour with slightly nutty notes. Overall earthy and balanced. The Hojicha Powder is finely ground, and is best for creating perfectly smooth hojicha tea, lattes and delicious hojicha flavoured desserts. 

What is it? Hojicha is a delicious, stone-ground roasted green tea. It has a similar concept to Matcha, but the tea leaves are roasted at 200 degree before the grinding process and hojicha is lower in caffeine. The roasting process imparts a beautiful nuttiness much like a lightly roasted coffee with zero bitterness. Our Hojicha uses the entire tea leaf, and by ingesting the whole leaf, you get the most out of it!  You can also use this powder to make amazing desserts.

Product warranty

All products offered by The Zen Tea Co. are guaranteed. We promise to replace with a new one or make the corresponding payment if any of your products suffered from a manufacturing defect within 14 days of delivery. In this case, all the costs of returning the product and sending the new or repaired product are paid by The Zen Tea Co.

The consumer must inform us of the lack of conformity of the product within 14 days of delivery through an email to hello@thezentea.co.uk that you want to return a product. In this way, we will organize the return in the most suitable way. In the event that the problem of said product is not under warranty, it will be the consumer who pays the possible additional expenses arising from said return.

Damages and issues

Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

Exceptions / non-returnable items

  • Cooking with Hojicha

    Hojicha is less popular than matcha but at least as delicious!

    Try to add a small amount of hojicha powder to your preparation and give an aromatic and roasted flavour twist to your recipes.

    Creams and baked goods: add 1-2 teaspoons of powder to your batter. It works well in pancakes, waffle and any cakes. Same in creams and raw desserts. You can also use it to make ice creams!

  • Hojicha tea and beverage

    SERVING: 2-3 g of TheZenTea Co. Hojicha powder every 150-200 ml of water or milk of your choice. Quantity can be adjusted based on your personal taste.

    Lattes: whisk powder with 50 ml of hot water then add steamed milk (dairy or any alternative). Mix well. You can also try it with ice: do not heat the milk and just add some ice cube to your glass! Follow same instructions as per Matcha ;)

    Smoothies: blend 2-3g of The ZenTea Co. hojicha powder together with your smoothie ingredients! The key word here is: experiment!
